Beetlejuice: The Musical

At the Winter Garden Theatre, 2020

First of all, Alex Brightman. Alex Brightman. Alex Brightman. He’s an absolute star performer as Beetlejuice. He managed about 45 different character voices throughout the show. It’s worth it just to see him perform.

Sophia Anne Caruso plays Lydia & is a hell of a singer, but was very hard to hear when she was just speaking. She wasn’t into the show/reacting well at first, but when Act Two came, she seemed to finally get her head in the game.

Kerry Butler as Barbara & David Josefsberg as Adam were a perfect dynamic duo. If not for Alex as Beetlejuice, these were my favorite two. They were funny, light, & made the show very immersive.

Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer as Delia was truly delightful & hilarious.

The show was absolutely mindless fun & laughter. The crowd continued to roar & cheer throughout it. The costumes & set design were second to none. The lighting was very creative, & made it all feel like a funhouse.

My mom, who didn’t want to see this show but did anyway, has since become Beetlejuice’s #1 fan, & even has the fridge magnet to prove it.

I highly recommend this show if you’re looking for a fun escape from reality. It’s absolutely worth it. & I join the cast & crew in saying, “Fuck Music Man!”
